Mary
Mary Orlin is the Emmy award-winning Co-Founder of Orlin Media, where she is a wine TV and video producer, telling winery stories behind the label. She's also The WineFashionista on The Huffington Post where she's a featured blogger on the wine and food pages. Most recently she was Executive Producer of NBC's In Wine Country, wine country's premier lifestyle show that airs nationally on the NBC Network. (Production on the show ceased in October 2009 but the show continues to air in syndication on NBC). She launched the show in October 2001, and it has been airing for 10 years, the longest running wine show on television.
In 2005 she received the James Beard Foundation Award, Emmy Awards in 2007 and 2008, and led her team to a total 14 Emmys for the show. Mary has garnered numerous other journalism awards for the show, including Best Producer from American Women in Radio & Television. In addition to overseeing the video content for television, she was responsible for the show's website, Facebook page, mobile club (one of the largest for an NBC local station production), and iTunes page.
Mary has also been a wine judge at the Mendocino Crab & Wine Days, the California State Fair, Livermore Valley's Taste of Terroir and the Santa Cruz Mountains wine competitions.
In 2010 Mary completed the Wine & Spirits Education Trust Intermediate and Advanced wine certiicate programs, passing the Intermediate level with distinction and highest score in her class, and passing the Advanced level with merit. She also passed the Introductory Level of Court of Master Sommelier in 2011, with the highest score in the class. The Certified Sommelier level is her next goal.
Prior to working at NBC, Mary Orlin was a producer for CNN Travel Now, CNN's program on worldwide destinations, trends, wine and cuisines. She also served as an editor for ZagatSurvey, was a regular contributor to Travelocity magazine, and was food and wine editor for the Palo Alto Weekly.
